Bonita Stephens is a new author of many styles of books and this is book number 4 that she has finished. The Secret Keeper- Metamorphosis contains more stories about her and her family, with the promise of many more to come.

Bonita is a genuine master piece formed from the Potter’s wheel. Bonita Stephens started out with no hope according to her father, who thought that her life was over and that she would never finish school, because of her brain injury but he was so, so wrong. God has opened many doors for her that no  man can shut.

When Bonita was in school, she had mixed emotions about learning. She did not like school because some of the children were mean to her.  Every day, they tried to fight her and her sister.   They scorned her family and always picked at their house and the clothes she wore.  But Bonita told herself, "Hold on... better days are coming."

Bonita Stephens is a new author of many types of books. “The Secret Keeper” is merely one of the many volumes of books in her life story. She is a minister of the Gospel, a mother, and a grandmother, who enjoys a variety of pastimes such as crossword puzzles, creative arts and just plain ole quietness. Bonita also is passionate about learning other languages.

Growing up poor taught her many valuable lessons, a few of which were working hard, never giving up, and living a life of integrity by always speaking the truth.

She learned early on from her parents the need to be an entrepreneur, and at one time she started a car detailing and a cleaning company.

She often laughs when she remembers that the very last thing in the world that she thought she would ever become was a book writer because she was so afraid to read in school. Anyone who knew her back then could tell you that she rather would have faced a big herd of wild elephants before she would read a book.

Many days she worried about not finishing school until one day when she had finished her first volume, “The Secret Keeper,” a well-known teacher of over forty years, smiled and said to her, “Miss. Bonita, you know this book is just like a dissertation, equivalent to someone having a PhD degree conferred upon them.”

She learned early on from both her parents the need to be an entrepreneur, and at one time she started a detailing and a cleaning company.

She is still in shock even to this day, to even become an author would have never in a million years ever crossed her mind. In the fifth grade nearly the whole class wanted to beat her up at Charles R. Drew Elementary School in Pompano Beach, Florida because of her continued refusal to read.

Many years she worried about not finishing school but one day after finishing volume one of The Secret Keeper, a well - known teacher of over fourty years, smiled and said to her, "Miss Bonita, you know this book is like a dissertation which is equivalent to someone having a PhD degree conferred upon them."

The birth of The Secret Keeper

I was in a program that required me to write about my life from as far back as I could remember.

I was in my 30s and so I did as they said. I took an ink pen and I wrote down everything I could remember. When I finished writing my life story, it may have been  7 to 10 pages. My babysitter read, it and she was so excited that she typed it up for me and made it look like a real book.

Then my babysitter died and my sister, Mag, helped me with my typing and Vea helped me with my writing. Then my book increased from 7 pages to 58 pages and I said,  "Wow, I don’t believe this!"

And as my sister Vea gave me even more coaching tips, the book kept growing it. Now it had reached 300 pages. It kept growing and I continued to write and came up with book titles such as
The Arora and The Exodus.
I was sitting down typing one day, for God spoke to me for the 3rd time. He said, 'The Secret Keeper.' Then I said, "Oh that’s what you want me to name the book!"  So that was my first book, The Secret Keeper, but I took my book to an editor in Florida and he said that I did a good job on the book but 300 pages was too long. So later I just decided to do many books by talking about my grandmother, my mother, and me and this was mostly Ebonics book one.

Then a girl said I could reach more people if the book was in English, so I did book 2 of Volume 1. Then I went on and did a book 3, talking about the stories that my mom told us, and book number four is mostly stories about my mom and my great grandma, grandpa, her brother and relationships that  she had.

I have never met anyone ever in my life like my mom.she was a real mother to me, a class act all by herself. My mom had a loving, kind heart. She was genuine and she loved all people, young and old. And these are my mom’s untold stories seen through my eyes...  more than a queen of Egypt or any of a queen.
