From Hopelessness to Freedom
In the life we all live, there’s no way to predict the changes that can occur—moment to moment, second to second, or even in the blink of an eye. I want to take a moment to introduce myself to those who may not know me.
My name is Hubert N. Myers, and to those who know me in prison, I’m known as Fat time. On March 28, 2019, after serving nearly 43 years in prison for murder and attempted murder—a crime I did not commit—I was finally released.
Convicted after trial in Jacksonville, Florida, my case was reexamined after the State Attorney’s Office conceded there was no evidence of guilt and, in fact, more evidence of innocence. A judge vacated my conviction.

This is my story. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
